The easiest way to find the square foot area of your yard is to break apart your yard into square, rectangle, triangle and circle sections. An example of how you should do this is shown below.

Square Footage Calculations:

Square: (L x W) Length x Width = Square Foot

Rectangle: (L x W) Length x Width = Square Foot

Triangle: (1/2 x B x L) half the bottom x length = Square Foot

Circle: (R2 x 3.14...) half the Width (or the radius) Squared x Pi (3.14...) = Square Foot

Add all the sections together. Remember to subtract items like sidewalks and fountains. You will now have the total square footage or the amount of the sod you will need. You may take your square footage and divide it by the square footage in a pallet, and this will tell you how many pallets of sod you will need for your project.

Example: You have 5000 square feet divided by 500 square feet in a pallet of centipede grass you will need 10 pallets of centipede sod to complete your project.
