Bahia grass, commonly called Highway grass, is coarse textured and grows to an open turf that is mainly upright. This is not a good lawn grass for numerous reasons.

It is primarily used for erosion control and cover in areas where there is no irrigation.

CHARACTERISTICS

  • Very drought tolerant.
  • Requires little or no maintenance other than frequent mowing.
  • Produces unsightly seed heads.
  • Mow at 4-5 inches.
